"The International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes encourage both personal and academic achievement, challenging students to excel in their studies and in their personal development."(IB)
At Star Kids Kingdom, we encourage learning that kindles the curiosity and creativity of our learners. We aim at strengthening our roots, providing the highest quality of learning skills to our learners. School offers a dynamic and supportive learning environment that is committed to the holistic development of all learners. Learners are encouraged to become critical thinkers through provision of a stimulating and an enriched curriculum.
Our program focuses on helping students become knowledgeable, inquirers, thinkers, communicators and allowing them, by letting them take ownership of their own learning. We expand our horizon ensuring we have incremental benefits for our learners, making sure they are equipped with skills and knowledge that make them comfortable with the world at large. An optimum teacher- student ratio of 1: 8 is maintained in the early years and 1:12 in the primary years, to ensure each child is given individual attention. This allows the transition of children from dependence to interdependence to independence, thereby developing the ability in every child to co-exist meaningfully.
In the early childhood and primary years, learning is based on the International Baccalaureate’s inquiry-based approach. All learning happens through the Units of Inquiry. Each unit is based on a Transdisciplinary Themes of global significance. The curriculum is enriched by performing / visual arts, music, drama and personal social physical education (PSPE) along with the traditional academic subjects of mathematics, language, science, social science, technology (information communication technology, computer technology). Students learn ‘subjects’ through their understanding of underlying concepts and how they are interconnected. Technology is integral to the learning process. Concept linked with the appropriate knowledge and skills allows the learner to learn and grow in the International Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Program (IB PYP).
What is International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP)?
The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for children aged 3-12 years. The program nurtures and develops learners as caring active participants in a life long journey of learning. Through its inquiry – led and concept – driven transdisciplinary framework, the PYP challenges learners to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning as they explore local and global issues and opportunities in real life contexts. The PYP benefits both learners and educators, strengthens their learning and international mindedness throughout the school community.
The PYP is both a curriculum framework and a philosophy that facilitates guided, structured inquiry
The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Programme are the six Transdisciplinary Themes. Units of Inquiry are developed around these Transdisciplinary Themes. These inquiries are engaging relevant, challenging and significant and they usually last for several weeks. The ideas relate to the world beyond the school, learners see their relevance and connect with them in an engaging and challenging way. They begin to reflect on their roles and responsibilities as learners and become actively involved with their education.
The Six Transdisciplinary Themes These themes provide the opportunity to incorporate local and global issues into the curriculum and effectively allow students to step beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.
* Who we are * Where we are in place and time * How we express ourselves * How the world works * How we organize ourselves * Sharing the planet
Aligned to the school’s mission statement is the IB Learner Profile. By developing the attributes of the IB learner profile, students also learn how to demonstrate respect for themselves and others, developing international-mindedness by working with others for a shared purpose and taking positive action for change.
